FAQ

Why should I choose to go on a guided tour?

A guided tour gives you the opportunity to drive on and visit the most beautiful routes and locations, within a reasonable time period, without having to waste time and money searching for the nice spots, or getting frustrated by driving in dead ends! Furtheron, the fact that we make a very thorough selection of the guesthouses helps you feel more comfortable when it comes to the overnight stay. Finally, our equipment which is inside the support vehicles together with our experience, guarantee your safety in any case.

Is my 4×4 suitable?

Basically, all 4×4 that have a transfer case and M/T tyres can participate. Please refer to Difficulty Level for detailed information.

Which is the maximum participants count?

Our groups consist of maximum 5 vehicles plus the support vehicles of course. This means that the groups have approx. 10-12 participants. We can accept larger groups, like 4×4 clubs.

How long are the routes?

We try to keep the daily driving time at about 4 to 6 hours. Because of various factors (weather, obstacles, break duration, etc.), it may occur that these times will have to be longer or shorter. Though, we almost always have the flexibility to adapt the driving time to the mood of our group!

Will my vehicle get damaged?

It can happen. The guides are always trying hard to protect the vehicles through their instructions. Despite that, and because of the nature of this activity, it is impossible to guarantee that a vehicle will return absolutely unharmed. The most common damage is surface scuffing on the vehicles paintjob, that usualy can easily be fixed, with the use of special wax products.

What will happen in case my vehicle gets immobilized ?

If this happens, one of the support vehicles will tow the damaged vehicle to the closest paved location. The owner will be responsible from this point for the further actions taken. Of course you will not be left alone. We will assist you in finding a workshop or the parts that are needed to repair the vehicle.

Do I have to participate with my own 4×4 vehicle?

Yes you do. In special cases we will be able to provide a 4×4. But this is something that has to be arranged and will be done under special conditions.

Can I make a trip specific insurance contract?

Insurance contracts have to meet the needs of each individual, so we can offer some alternatives on this field. This way you will be able to make a contract that suits your needs. Please contact us for more information.

How can I be sure that the tour I have booked will actually take place?

It’s quite simple: Once we receive your 50% advance payment (which is the booking fee), we will send to you our “Tour implementation warranty” document. This document signed by both, the participant and Offroad Unlimited, is an official warranty, that regardless of participants number, the tour is going to be conducted. It also assures you, that the booked tour will not be cancelled for any reason other than the exceptions mentioned below (and in the document).

Exceptions which can cause cancellation of a scheduled tour, are armed conflicts within or at the border of Greece, and extremely dangerous weather conditions (reported by official media).
In general, and if nothing of the above happens, the tour is done, if you are at the agreed meeting point, on time.

How can I travel with my own 4×4 to Greece?

There are some alternatives for travelling by car.

  • Driving and ferry-boat:

    First option:
Drive to Venice (Italy). Go onboard a ferry-boat. Land either on Igoumenitsa (if participating a northern Greece tour), or in  Patra (if participating a central/southern Greece tour).

    Second option:
Drive to Ancona (Italy). Go onboard a ferry-boat. Land either on Igoumenitsa (if participating a northern Greece tour), or in Patra (if participating a central/southern Greece tour).

    Third option:
Drive to Bari (Italy). Go onboard a ferry-boat. Land either on  Igoumenitsa (if participating a northern Greece tour), or in Patra (if participating a central/southern Greece tour).

    Fourth option:
Drive to Brindisi (Italy). Go onboard a ferry-boat. Land either on Igoumenitsa (if participating a northern Greece tour), or in Patra (if participating a central/southern Greece tour).
  • Driving only:
In this case you will have to drive over numerous countries depending on your starting point, and lead your way through the Balcans into northern Greece.
  • Driving and train and ferry-boat:
Unfortunately, the car transporting trains stop at Verona (Italy). From there you will have to drive to one of the alternative ferry-boat ports. Please visit our section Links for more information on car transporting trains across Europe.
What are the consequences if I need to cancel my booked and paid participation?
  • If your cancelation request reaches us 90 days or more from the beginning of the booked tour on Greek territory, your complete advance payment (50% of total) will be transferred back to you (bank fees excluded).
  • If your cancelation request reaches less than 90 days from the beginning of the booked tour on Greek territory, you lose every claim on your advance payment (50% of total).

We believe you understand that the entire procedure for every single participation (planning, organization, reservations, tickets, equipment, safety equipment, etc.), costs a significant amount that has to be covered, in order to make the entire tour profitable. Even one cancellation can mean failure, because the groups intentionally consist of very few participants.
